VAN NUYS, Calif. - November 18, 2013 - Easton Sports, the industry leader in baseball bat performance technology has partnered with Blast Motion, the leading innovator in advanced sensor technology for team and action sports. This strategic partnership has created the Easton Power Sensor, a device that slips over any baseball bat knob and gives athletes and coaches a simple and clear power rating or power index for each swing. The data is transmitted wirelessly to a smart phone or tablet. In addition, the Easton Power Sensor transmits other valuable bat swing metrics to help improve swing mechanics, track progress and share with coaches and friends through social media.
"For three years, our Easton Hit Lab has been traveling the country using advanced batted-ball data to help baseball and softball players identify the best bat for their swing and maximize power at the plate," said Dan Beamer, VP Product Marketing. "Over this same time period, Blast Motion has developed the most accurate and innovative sensor technology for baseball. The Easton Power Sensor is a combination of these two great initiatives, and we think it will revolutionize the science of hitting."
The Easton Power Sensor provides a fun way for athletes to improve their power at the plate and to track their progress. "The key is that it is so easy to set up and use. No instructions are required," says Roger Weingarth, President and COO of Blast. "You simply download the free App, slip the Easton Power Sensor on to the handle end of your bat, and start hitting. It will not change the performance of the bat in any way and the data will transmit automatically to your device in a very user-friendly screen display."
The Easton Power Sensor will be available to consumers in the summer of 2014. Stay tuned to the Easton Baseball website for more details: http://www.easton.com/baseball/
